About
I work with individuals who have experienced trauma and are seeking relief through an integrative, relational, and somatic approach. I support my clients in connecting to the felt sense of their bodies as a source of information. I believe that a gentle inquiry into the body’s felt sense allows us to safely integrate the past into the present and clarify what’s true for us in any given moment.
This self-inquiry may lead us to identify past experiences or people that we were hurt by. We can work to repair the impacts of those experiences through having compassion and respect for the hurt parts and freeing up the body’s stuck survival responses. In session, I invite movement, shaking, sounds, dancing, poetry, or any other safe form of creative expression.
Some people find it helpful to name the oppressive systems that impact their ongoing experience in their body. Naming these structures can help us resist our internalization of them and build on our resilience and personal power. I welcome exploration of the cultural identities, strengths, limitations, complexities, and intergenerational narratives that might arise in this process.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) by the EMDR Institute and I am currently at the advanced level of the Somatic Experiencing Training Program. While I have various tools to offer, my goal is to be responsive and attuned to what you need. I see the development of a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship as the most essential part of treatment. I understand the therapy relationship itself as a catalyst for new ways of relating to ourselves and the people in our lives.
